What can acupuncture treat?

The World Health Organisation (2002) lists over 25 conditions for which acupuncture has been shown, through controlled trials, to be an effective treatment. It lists more than 60 other conditions for which acupuncture has been shown to have benefits but for which further proof would be helpful.

Traditionally, acupuncture has been used to treat a broad spectrum of illness; physical and psychological, acute and chronic. Traditional acupuncturists treat each condition within the context of the individual and their overall health, looking for and aiming to rectify the patterns that have led to the symptoms. For this reason there is not a direct relationship between a particular condition and the treatment or the outcome. Everyone is different, every treatment is different. That said, some of you may wish to look at the research available and so I have included some links.

Find out about the latest research and how acupuncture may be able to help you by searching the A - Z of conditions on the British Acupuncture Council website. If you find the information hard to decipher then please just call me and we can discuss your particular circumstances.

Here is some additional information on fertility support from the Acupuncture Fertility Network.

I hope you find this information useful, as a starting point. Please call if you would like to talk things through in more detail. I hope I will be able to help you, but where necessary I can refer you on to someone with more appropriate experience.
