ABOUT ME

About Philippa

An acupuncturist needling a point in the leg of a woman lying on a couch

"Philippa has been a wonderful emotional support. She really listens and remembers what you tell her, without a moment of judgment."

"...thank you for your incredible kindness, sensitivity, professionalism and human approach. You helped me at a time when I needed it most and I won’t forget that."

'I love the hands on approach of practicing acupuncture with tui na massage. I see many people for women's health and fertility, musculo-skeletal problems and stress related conditions. I enjoy the variety of helping men and women of all ages with a wide range of issues.'

I am a full member of the British Acupuncture Council, the Acupuncture Fertility Network and the Acupuncture Childbirth Team (London), the latter covers fertility, pregnancy and women's health.  I began practicing acupuncture in 1997 and have a Diploma in Tui Na (pronounced twee nah ) massage. A previous degree in Microbiology, Physiology and Biochemistry provides a useful science background. I have undertaken specialist training in Gynaecology and Fertility and in the treatment of musculo-skeletal conditions.

Over the years I have worked in a variety of private and NHS settings - GP surgeries, natural health clinics, sports clubs and the Gateway, an award-winning specialist NHS acupuncture clinic.

My skills are kept up to date with regular internships, advanced courses and workshops with leading experts in their fields, covering different styles of acupuncture, gynaecology and fertility, tui na massage and sports and remedial acupuncture.

Working closely with a network of acupuncturists and other health professionals, including counsellors, osteopaths, physiotherapists, nutritionists, hypnotherapists and massage therapists enables sharing of expertise and cross referrals to speed your recovery. A couple of  groups deserve a special mention.

The Acupuncture Childbirth Team (London) are a group of highly experienced acupuncture practitioners with a special interest in Fertility and Pregnancy.  We come together every 2 months for guest lectures from experts in the field including IVF consultants, gynaecologists, obstetricians, nutritionists, and counsellors. The group has become  an invaluable focal point for ongoing training in pregnancy and fertility, as well as a forum for sharing knowledge and support.

The West Norwood Therapies clinic has a very collaborative ethos. Awesome Jennie, who runs WNT and my wonderful colleagues meet every couple of weeks for shared learning as well as mutual support. They are a fantastic team to work with.

When I am not working or with friends and family I am quite likely to be found on the allotment - it's my outdoor gym and chill out space rolled into one!
