Hands performing a Tui Na massage technique

"With Philippa I have struck gold. Magical hands."

"...a lovely treat and great for the aching and knotted muscles which my condition makes me prone to."

Tuina (pronounced twee-nah) is a dynamic and flexible form of therapeutic massage. A variety of massage techniques, gentle body manoeuvres and stretches, many of them similar to those used in Western massage are combined in an individually tailored relaxing or invigorating treatment.

It
is practised in hospitals throughout China and can treat a wide range of ailments, including back, neck, shoulder, muscle and joint pain, headaches, constipation, menstrual pain and insomnia. I will often combine it with acupuncture or use it for general relaxation at the start or end of an acupuncture treatment.

Your massage can be deep, penetrating and vigorous, relaxing and calming, or a combination - it depends upon the condition being treated and your own preferences. It can be performed directly on the skin, through light clothing or through a soft sheet

Tuina is suitable for children and adults, including older people who may be more frail, and is of particular benefit to anyone who does not like needles.
